Little Girl

I have found myself a formula for easy dressing which balances both style and comfort. This "blouse-skirt-flats" style equation is perfect for when I commute from QC to Makati via tricycle out our village, FX to train station then MRT to Ayala. I have often found myself being sad when I can't wear the clothes that I want to be garbed in 'coz they can be too attention grabbing (it's either you get the sneer/stare or appraisal) which can end up compromising my safety. Thing is, I feel like I limit myself when I hold back with my sartorial choices and yet it can be terribly uncomfortable when I go all out with it. So how do I find that balance? This outfit, in my opinion, is an example of that balance. It's as simple as the tee and jeans combo but the little details give subtle intricacies to this look.

Summer Cut Outs

Sometimes I get hired for different types of job by my mom. I've been a stylist, designer, interior decorator, sous chef, waitress and nanny to her. This time, I was asked by her and her friends to be the photographer for a surprise birthday party that they were throwing for their friend. Well naturally I couldn't refuse my mom and being practically broke also didn't help but I knew I was going to have fun with them anyway 'coz they're such a fun bunch. So there. These were just some of the things I took photos of. Thought I'd also share an outfit post that was somehow summer ready in here as well. Behold, my "photographer" outfit part 3.

Code Red

Having worn this outfit reminded me of a phase in fashion that I had back then in 2009-2010 wherein I was very much into monochromatic and B&W looks. I'd don an all-black ensemble and inject a jolt of color, which in my case was always red. My 3rd year prom gown which I posted here during my earlier days of blogging was black and white houndstooth, an unlikely choice if I may say so myself, and complemented it with red lips and hair accessory. I guess this "formula" has always been a part of my "style equation".

Something about this outfit screams preppy-lass-in-the-streets-of-london to me. Think...Alexa Chung. Must be the argyle-like tights, the vintage satchel, beige culottes, and these red floral oxfords. My fave element in this look would have to be my red shoes though. First, I got it real cheap for 197.50 php at Manels during their Anniversary sale where everything is 50% off (btw, the sale is still ongoing and will end on Tuesday so you better make a visit now!). Second, it has replaced my long gone fave red pair (and I can't quite believe that it took me this long to find a new one when clearly, red is my fave color). Third, they're a much modern-looking oxfords that come in a non-traditional color like black, brown, or cream. And lastly, the shiny finish reminds me of Dorothy of Oz's iconic red shoes. Sulit kung sulit! Haha!

In A Sea Of Green

(striped tank and vest-Trunkshow | shorts-The Second Shop | leopard oxfords-Ichigo | bag-Mom's)
Late post. Photos taken on June 16, 2011 when La Salle celebrated its 100th year here in the Philippines. I know that we were supposed to wear centennial/green shirts but I wasn't able to get one for myself so yeah I just settled for this green army vest. I joked about not getting the memo to Ara, my Atenean friend, who came with me to the event. Haha! I guess it's safe to say that I need more green clothes in my closet. Haha!

I was looking forward to so many things that day actually and was super excited but alas my expectations and my heart were crushed when I wasn't able to meet my HS friends who were visiting. So yeah that kinda bummed me out a bit but all was forgotten when I heard the drum beats and the cheers from fellow Lasallians. I was standing across the uni when the cheering started. So try to imagine me playing patintero with the cars just so I can make it to the other side. Haha! I stayed only for a short while though 'coz Ara headed back to Ateneo to attend her Philo class and my college friends were nowhere in sight (hard looking for a familiar face in a crowded place). Bummer that I wasn't able to witness the fireworks! Oh well, I still enjoyed eating (at Pasta Plate and Noriter) non-stop that day before Ara and the others were allowed to enter the school (outsiders were allowed to go in at 3pm) and let me just say that I'm so proud that I was a part of my uni's centennial celeb even though I didn't stay for long. Those moments were just priceless
.

PS. Thank you oh so very much for your comforting and encouraging comments on my previous post! I couldn't thank you guys enough for the support that you have shown me! I love you guys! :)

Hectic Fridays

(studded cardi-K2 | high-waist shorts- The Second Shop | leopard oxfords-Ichigo)
Here's an outfit post and a photodiary for last last Friday. Wore this to school (and to a few other places) but I wore sheer tights underneath 'coz there's a dresscode policy in school. Anddd...I'm back to my red lippies! Yeahzzz! I missed it!:))

I only had my PUBLISH class that day and here's what went on in that class.
Blech. Using Indesign, we did a layout of our "own" business magazine. (I wish we did a fashion mag instead, that would've made it easier and much more exciting for me. Haha!) My blockmates were all so good at it that my work looked blah and fuggly next to theirs. :/
After my class, I went to meet Rachelle in Trinoma, so that we could both go watch and support our dear friend Camille for the Ms. UST 2011 pageant. There we yelled our lungs out and woot-ed like crazy! All our efforts paid off 'coz she won 2nd runner up! *sniffs* Proud childhood friend (kababata) right here. :">
The pageant ended at around 11:30 pm so the girls spent the night and the following day (which was a Saturday) at my place. I'm telling you, having sleepovers twice in two weeks at my house really exhausted me. I'd rather have sleepovers at another friend's house, I mean, where's the fun in sleeping in your own room? (And you call that a sleepover? Haha!)

The following day, we toured Rachelle at Rn'B 'coz the last time she went there was when we were still in grade 6. (See, she just got back from the UK, so as her grade school BFFs we felt responsible to show her around the place again). But I'm not complaining, I missed her to bits! Plus I really enjoyed it when she would slip and use a British accent. We wait for it all the time. Haha!
Le sigh two Fridays in a row now that I have been constantly out with the friends and holding sleepovers at my place. Girls, next time...please let me enjoy sleeping at your homes for a change naman ha? :)))

XO.
