Dainty & Comfy

Something comfy and dainty for a busy day in Makati. Someone told me that I looked like I was going to jog or something in these clothes. Well, at least it would make for a chic quasi-sporty outfit. Then again maybe not. What do you think?

Code Red

Having worn this outfit reminded me of a phase in fashion that I had back then in 2009-2010 wherein I was very much into monochromatic and B&W looks. I'd don an all-black ensemble and inject a jolt of color, which in my case was always red. My 3rd year prom gown which I posted here during my earlier days of blogging was black and white houndstooth, an unlikely choice if I may say so myself, and complemented it with red lips and hair accessory. I guess this "formula" has always been a part of my "style equation".

Something about this outfit screams preppy-lass-in-the-streets-of-london to me. Think...Alexa Chung. Must be the argyle-like tights, the vintage satchel, beige culottes, and these red floral oxfords. My fave element in this look would have to be my red shoes though. First, I got it real cheap for 197.50 php at Manels during their Anniversary sale where everything is 50% off (btw, the sale is still ongoing and will end on Tuesday so you better make a visit now!). Second, it has replaced my long gone fave red pair (and I can't quite believe that it took me this long to find a new one when clearly, red is my fave color). Third, they're a much modern-looking oxfords that come in a non-traditional color like black, brown, or cream. And lastly, the shiny finish reminds me of Dorothy of Oz's iconic red shoes. Sulit kung sulit! Haha!

Covered Exposed

"So where do you work?" That's prolly the most flattering question that I've been asked by a friend of Mark on the night that I got to meet his posse. Why flattering you ask? Because for someone who felt...well, for lack of a better term, out of place or a stand-out in a crowd of late-twenty-something professionals, I felt that it was a compliment that maybe I looked more mature for my age to them and I couldn't be happier that my outfit that night helped me achieve that.

When you see floral prints and patterns, you can't help but go the girly/sweet/preppy route. Well, that's what I'd usually go for anyway. But this time I refrained from doing what is expected from me so I styled it in such a way that will exude a quiet maturity and sexiness. This look is an example of balancing out different elements in your outfit. The opposing elements are the flowery blouse contrasted by the studded shoes, dressy top with casual faded denim shorts, and being covered up top but baring my legs. Finished the look off by wearing my studded pumps from Oasap which helped create the illusion of longer legs.

Lolita

For my two HS best buddies' birthday celeb, I wore an all white outfit with hints of pink and tan for an innocent and lolita-ish look. It was quite a feat to remain clean and pristine with this outfit considering that I commuted from my dorm in Taft all the way to the far far land of FARview, I mean Fairview while it was pouring. I remember thinking to myself while waiting for a FX at the kanto in Taft, "Great timing Jonessa. Wear white when you're gonna step on muddy puddles and get splashed with water". Hehe. But we rarely see each other anymore so everyone really made an effort to come despite the bad weather. So yeah, I had a wonderful time catching up with my high school chums and even I could tell that I was particularly hyper and cheery that day. Amazing how the right people can bring out all the positive traits and the best in you. :)

Tangerine Flowers

Oh dear. Look at me blogging at an ungodly hour...again. My body clock is so messed up right now, I've been waking up automatically at 3 or 4 in the morning then going back to sleep a few hours later. If I remember correctly, my previous post was also typed and published during this hour. The scenario was this: I suddenly woke up in my dorm bed. Groggily and instinctively knew it was 3-4 am. Willed myself back to sleep but just can't. Felt more alert than ever, thoughts sharper and clearer. Uttered "What-the-hell" and just grabbed my laptop and typed away. This post has been drafted for so long it's begging to be published NOW. Do bear with me and my 4am thoughts. :)

These photos were taken on a random shopping day out with my mom and meeting with my lover! (Ha-ha-ha!) This kind of outfit easily became my uniform. Sheer collared blouse, metal neckpiece hidden underneath collars, slim-fitting jeans and heels. I didn't even notice that I've been wearing too much sheer tops with collars like this until Mark pointed it out. I don't think my love affair with it will end anytime soon though. What can I say, it perfectly suits my style.

Flower Power

Floral was the theme of the night on Day 2 of PFW. My mom and I went out of our rooms that night feeling pleasantly surprised to find both of us clad in the print. I love it whenever I'm "terno" with Mama. Recently, I've been wearing matching outfits with a special someone too! We don't even talk about it. I get secretly giddy whenever that happens. It's like a simple and subtle way of showing the world that this person and I are on the same page or at least have the same taste in fashion. I hope that makes sense. Haha!

The Ezra Santos collection was one of my faves btw. It showcased his impeccable taste, masterful beadwork, sophistication, excellent tailoring and understanding of a woman's body. I've nothing but praises for his art! The moment his first garment went down the runway, we were immediately entranced and he kept us hooked 'til the last piece! My mom and I were just gaping and I kept saying to her, "ang gandaaa" while clutching her arm for support. Yes, I was that IN LOVE with his pieces. It transported me to a time when I used to watch runway shows (of Versace, Dolce and Gabbana, CK, Michael Kors, Carolina Herrera etc.) on FashionTv as a child. I remember feeling this very strong desire and passion of becoming a designer one day every-freakin-time I watch these shows. Anyway, I might do a post on Ezra's collection soon just so I can show you what I saw that night and because I want everyone who reads this blog to appreciate his talent too. :)

Oriental Bloom

Here's my 2nd outfit in Bohol! Refrained from pairing this mullet skirt with a body-hugging top and paired it with a loose and flow-y blouse instead. I figured, with a top like this, the whole look will appear more laid-back---perfect for summer and for doing touristy things all daaay! I think I look like a modern oriental princess here actually, hence the title. Leave it to this skirt to make you feel like one with its trail billowing behind you when you walk! As for these shoes, well they're inspired by the Viviene WestwoodxMelissa collab. I think they're a nice alternative to your beach flipflops (see my previous post for jelly flats). So what do you think of this look? I hope you like it! :)

Friday I'm In Love

I don't care if Monday's blue
Tuesday's grey and Wednesday too
Thursday I don't care about you
It's Friday I'm in love

My favorite day of the week. Then again who doesn't like Fridays? Usually, I can't be bothered to dress-up for school because I commute from Q.C. all the way to Taft and I don't wanna attract unnecessary attention that could put me in an uncomfortable situation. But I make an exception on Fridays. Why? It's my non-haggard school day 'coz I get to attend one class only and that's my literature elective (8:00am-9:30am). I also noticed that lately, I've been exerting extra effort to doll up 'coz in that class, (aside from the fact that I love my lit classes) I found a motivation a.k.a. crush who inspires me to get over my laziness in dressing-up for school. Haha! Plus, every Friday I fetch my mom at work and we go on dates and the woman doesn't like me going out not looking decent and pretty. Haha! So 2 weeks ago, we went on another date and she treated me to lunch and I had the yummiest salmon carbonara ever (too bad I didn't bring my cam!) then we met her officemates at UCC for dessert and coffee and while they were chit-chatting about taxes and parenting, I went to Lavish Lashes Studio to get eye-lash extensions. I love the result but the process of putting them on and the adhesive stung and my eyes were red for days I looked like I was on drugs. Haha! After that, my mom accompanied me to look for a dress that I'd wear on my friend's debut (will blog about it soon).

So yeah. This was my outfit 2 Fridays ago (though I wore tights underneath and took 'em off after class haha!). It's basically an outfit remix. But I don't really like wearing new clothes/shoes in school (baka masira due to flood and rain like my fave pair of floral oxfords huhu). I like saving 'em for dates with friends and events. Oh diba. Haha!

Summer Layers

I don't mean to frighten you guys but yeah...here are photos of me goofing off with my little sister who takes my outfit shots. Haha!
(white cotton dress-Mom's | floral tunic-Mom's | rings-Anagon and Eastwood | necklace-The Ramp | bag-Follow Your Heart | belt-Abbey's (oh noes your belt is still with me abbey!) sandals-Janylin | turban-Flatterbuy)
Been sporting the orange lippy for quite a while and I'm lovin' it! Perfect for summer and I got it for a really cheap price from my good friend Abbey! Would you believe that I got it for only 50php?! Haha!
Earrings gifted by my BFF Rachelle! I know you're reading this REJ! Thankies! :*
Just because it's summer doesn't mean I can't layer up, right? I mean, it's easy to layer clothing when you're just wearing a light cotton tank-dress and breezy floral tunic! Then put your hair up in a high bun and keep those bangs away your forehead by wearing a turban and you're good to go! The key is wearing breathable and light fabrics this summer if you still want to layer up. Haaay it truly is a challenge to dress up under this intense Manila heat! I'll keep this post short since I couldn't think of anything more to say. Oh and before I go, thank you soooo much for congratulating me on my previous post! I really appreciate all the support and the comments you guys! Thank you!
And here's Mama wearing the exact same tunic and tank-dress that I'm wearing here (she just styled it differently though). She wore this when she went to Bora 2 weeks ago. Hee. Thought I'd share this photo since the clothes I'm wearing on this post are practically hers plus it's Mother's Day! Haha! Her sunflower slippers crack me up sooo much! Haha!

XO.
