Quirky 50's

Quite a quirky look for a comeback post don't you think? That is if you've even noticed that I haven't blogged for about 2 months. Even this look, I'm afraid to say, is a backlog. Still better than nothing, right? The direction I was heading for this was reminiscent of the quirky 50's laundry/resort wear look, made modern by itty-bitty distressed denim shorts and a contemporary print.

Of course, such an outfit required an equally fun occasion to wear this to. A mini vacation with my boyfriend seemed perfect for this. More specifically, in time for Labor Day weekend. Man, this just shows how old this post is though! Haha. No matter. Every outfit I post here is like an entry to a diary anyway.

Chase The Sun

I literally had to chase the sun to be able to get good lighting for these photos. Well, not literally but you get the picture! The sun was about to set in a few hours so I dragged my good friend Bea to immediately take these shots. My friends were laughing at me because I was looking up at the sky with a very concerned look on my face and was telling them, "yung araw, yung araw!". I cannot emphasize enough how important good lighting is. Haha! So anyway, here's another print-on-print outfit for ya! I wore these shorts here and used it for a more subtle type of print-on-print look. This time, I went real colorful with it and paired it with florals (and polka dots still)! It made sense for me to pair it with this blouse because of the same fuchsia pink accents. So what do you think?

Thank you to Bea for taking these photos for me!

Covered Exposed

"So where do you work?" That's prolly the most flattering question that I've been asked by a friend of Mark on the night that I got to meet his posse. Why flattering you ask? Because for someone who felt...well, for lack of a better term, out of place or a stand-out in a crowd of late-twenty-something professionals, I felt that it was a compliment that maybe I looked more mature for my age to them and I couldn't be happier that my outfit that night helped me achieve that.

When you see floral prints and patterns, you can't help but go the girly/sweet/preppy route. Well, that's what I'd usually go for anyway. But this time I refrained from doing what is expected from me so I styled it in such a way that will exude a quiet maturity and sexiness. This look is an example of balancing out different elements in your outfit. The opposing elements are the flowery blouse contrasted by the studded shoes, dressy top with casual faded denim shorts, and being covered up top but baring my legs. Finished the look off by wearing my studded pumps from Oasap which helped create the illusion of longer legs.

Mysteries

Named this post after the mysteries of the rosary because of an inside joke between me and the person whom I met when I wore this outfit out. This was my "anti-date look" actually. Haha! I was feeling quite pissed and rebellious that day to be honest so instead of being all cutesy, girly, and feminine, I chose to wear something that was the complete opposite of those things. I still kept the look slightly preppy, clean, and not too busy so it'd still be very "me" though. :)

Tomas

Wow, this post is blogged right on time. Well, better to share it now that I'm actually in the mood to talk about my date with my high school girlfriends yesterday than wait 'til the weekend when my excitement for it has died down, right? Right.

On to the post then!

Yesterday, my CONCEPT class had a freecut ("research break", reasoned our prof) which allowed me to go home at 9:30 am (quite early eh?). Because of this early dismissal, I called for my cousin Mariel to come visit me in school and had lunch with her. After that, I met with Deb and Mel at Tomas Morato for our "Cravings date" (which was postponed waaay too many times already).
Had lunch with mi cousin at Half-time (boo, 'coz Flaming Wings was already packed with people)! Doesn't matter, I liked their chicken tempura. I swear when we first laid eyes on it, we were hesitant to try it. It's breading was white as snow (not even the flesh-colored tempura that we are all used to)! Haha! And just a 'lil fun something to share with you guys, that Iced tea right there (also from Half-time) is the main reason why I keep on coming back to that place. I'm not really a fan of juice but since it tastes like Sago Gulaman, it's got to be my fave Iced tea now! And yeah, I'm a sucker for sago gulaman. Haha! Okay sorry for rambling. After having lunch, we had unlicake (yes, you read that right!) or unlimited cake and coffee at Cravings with Mel and Deb! And then we just cam-whored the day away at the streets of Tomas which is very evident in the rest of the photos. Haha! It was a fun day and though I came home exhausted from everything that had transpired that day, I couldn't care less 'coz times like these make me feel extremely lucky for having these girls as my friends. :)

In A Sea Of Green

(striped tank and vest-Trunkshow | shorts-The Second Shop | leopard oxfords-Ichigo | bag-Mom's)
Late post. Photos taken on June 16, 2011 when La Salle celebrated its 100th year here in the Philippines. I know that we were supposed to wear centennial/green shirts but I wasn't able to get one for myself so yeah I just settled for this green army vest. I joked about not getting the memo to Ara, my Atenean friend, who came with me to the event. Haha! I guess it's safe to say that I need more green clothes in my closet. Haha!

I was looking forward to so many things that day actually and was super excited but alas my expectations and my heart were crushed when I wasn't able to meet my HS friends who were visiting. So yeah that kinda bummed me out a bit but all was forgotten when I heard the drum beats and the cheers from fellow Lasallians. I was standing across the uni when the cheering started. So try to imagine me playing patintero with the cars just so I can make it to the other side. Haha! I stayed only for a short while though 'coz Ara headed back to Ateneo to attend her Philo class and my college friends were nowhere in sight (hard looking for a familiar face in a crowded place). Bummer that I wasn't able to witness the fireworks! Oh well, I still enjoyed eating (at Pasta Plate and Noriter) non-stop that day before Ara and the others were allowed to enter the school (outsiders were allowed to go in at 3pm) and let me just say that I'm so proud that I was a part of my uni's centennial celeb even though I didn't stay for long. Those moments were just priceless
.

PS. Thank you oh so very much for your comforting and encouraging comments on my previous post! I couldn't thank you guys enough for the support that you have shown me! I love you guys! :)
