Feisty Feline

Everyone in my family including my boyfriend dressed up on the day we watched Breaking Dawn Part 2. My sister wore black and Mark arrived in my home in a black and red get-up which was so in theme for Twilight. I donned a grungy outfit that was somehow inspired by Bella and the whole feel of the movie. My shirt also has a cat print on it which can totally pass as a werewolf of the Quileute Tribe. Whut-whut! My mom had been so excited to see this movie that she reserved tickets earlier on and made this day a family date. Everyone was so cooperative by dressing up! As for the movie, well...we all liked it. I was pleasantly (and almost violently) surprised at the outcome of the film but it turned out really well, I must say.

Printed Bottom

An outfit thrown on last minute. Mix and match of what I have in my very limited "dorm-wardrobe". Lately, I've been finding it hard to pick which clothes to bring to my dorm and which to leave untouched at my home in QC. Every sunday afternoon before I leave for the dorm, I grab almost every piece of clothing in my closet because I can't/don't plan my outfits for school ahead of time. So I figured, just get as much clothes as possible and wish that they'd all pair up well together. Come Saturday, when I arrive home in QC, I pick out clothes for a random day or night out with friends and I stare blankly at my almost empty closet. Sometimes, when I'm having a senior moment, I'd anxiously run around the house looking for this and that, then I'd remember that it's at the dorm. Sometimes I wish I could just buy an entire wardrobe of clothes for my home in Taft. That'd be pretty convenient albeit a lil extravagant. Hehe.

Geometry

And I'm backkk! If the malware problem of my blog hadn't been fixed by now, I swear I'd get blogging withdrawal/anxiety. I wonder if you guys get that too? Anyway, a million thanks to my hero-slash-IT-expert-slash-tutor Mark for helping me with this!

Now onto the look! This was my outfit when we went out to celebrate Father's Day at Shangri La Chinese Resto. The top and shorts seemed like they were meant for each other, yeah? Decided to go all matchy-matchy on this one for that quirky-fun look. If you're scared to try out the print-on-print look, then I have two tips for you (not that I'm an expert on this or anything). 1) Polka and stripes are a match made in heaven. There's just something about combining straight hard lines with soft round curves like circles that makes it geometrically pleasing to the eyes (woah, Geometry! Haha!). But seriously, if you're still not too "out there" in trying out this trend then you should definitely go for this more subtle print combo. 2) Tone it down so your outfit won't look too busy. In my case, I opted to wear a top with a simple cut (t-shirt) and plain front design. All of the print action was happening at the back. Then I used black accents and stuck to two color schemes which was black and fuchsia.

Hope that helps! :)

Indie Rock

So this was my outfit for Bloggers United 3 last June 2 held at Grandsview Events place in Makati. This whole look came together last minute actually and I couldn't be happier with the result! I was again, playing out a fantasy or a different persona here, one who just got out of bed, grabbed yesterday's too-cool-for-you-tee, and slipped on some thigh-high stockings that would make Taylor Momsen proud. Of course, that thing about wearing yesterday's tee wasn't true. Although I did wear the neon tube top for the 2nd time in a row that day! Sorry. Haha! I must say the best outfits for me are those that aren't planned. However, as much as I liked this look on me, I must admit it was kinda hassle to wear because of the high side slits of my shirt! Hubadera fasyooown! I wore this out to the movies before I went to BU3! What was I thinking, right? I was shivering the whole time and thought I was gonna catch a cold, or even worse---pulmonia! Haha! Total miscalculation of the weather too. It rained and wasn't hot and humid at all. No worries, I came out alive, pulmonia-free, and lived to tell you this story. Haha!

Sugar, Spice, and Everything Nice

I was really surprised with Unica Hija's collection for fashion week this year. The brand has been around long enough for me to know that its style is for the ultimate girly-girl. But their collection wasn't just about frills, lace, and ruffles; they showed us that they also do other looks but still manage to stay true to their signature style. In fact, they had 40's inspired dresses with matching bonnets, 50's shape-enhancing peplums, 60's mod shift dresses, corporate wear that wasn't boring at all, preppy blouses that tickled my fancy, trendy tribal printed dresses (worn by Charo Ronquillo) and of course feminine florals. My personal favorite? Charo Ronquillo's lace and aztec printed dress. How clever of them to use the tribal print fabric as a lining for the lace dress! This is the perfect example of merging together trendy and classic pieces. The dress is lace (classic and girly), the lining is in this year's sought-after print (tribal), the cut is mullet type which again makes it feel more "now". I think it embodies Unica perfectly! See what I mean? :)

Flower Power

Floral was the theme of the night on Day 2 of PFW. My mom and I went out of our rooms that night feeling pleasantly surprised to find both of us clad in the print. I love it whenever I'm "terno" with Mama. Recently, I've been wearing matching outfits with a special someone too! We don't even talk about it. I get secretly giddy whenever that happens. It's like a simple and subtle way of showing the world that this person and I are on the same page or at least have the same taste in fashion. I hope that makes sense. Haha!

The Ezra Santos collection was one of my faves btw. It showcased his impeccable taste, masterful beadwork, sophistication, excellent tailoring and understanding of a woman's body. I've nothing but praises for his art! The moment his first garment went down the runway, we were immediately entranced and he kept us hooked 'til the last piece! My mom and I were just gaping and I kept saying to her, "ang gandaaa" while clutching her arm for support. Yes, I was that IN LOVE with his pieces. It transported me to a time when I used to watch runway shows (of Versace, Dolce and Gabbana, CK, Michael Kors, Carolina Herrera etc.) on FashionTv as a child. I remember feeling this very strong desire and passion of becoming a designer one day every-freakin-time I watch these shows. Anyway, I might do a post on Ezra's collection soon just so I can show you what I saw that night and because I want everyone who reads this blog to appreciate his talent too. :)

Mustard, Lace, and Leopard

The first Philippine Fashion Week Holiday show I watched this year was that of Jun Jun Cambe's. Memorable night not because of the show but because this was the first time I went alone coming from our home in QC to SMX. Woah, huge feat for me that one. Haha! If you must know, I am practically dependent on my whole family. So yeah, a cab ride alone and having a poor sense of direction were enough to make me sick the whole time I was on the road going to SMX. Hee.

As for my outfit, my little sister called this the "big-sister-ang-yaman-mo-lang-tingnan" look. Hahaha! Lace, pearls and a good quality bag would help achieve this look, I guess. What do you think?
