Black Track

I used to say "I can't wait to be thirty and dress all fancy and powerful" when I was younger. I still do by the way. Then I realized, why wait to reach that age when I can do it now. That's what's so fun about fashion anyway; I can take on different personas through different styles. I never saw myself being mixed up in the corporate world as I always envisioned myself as a designer, briefly as part of the media and entertainment industry. Therefore I always thought that I wouldn't get as much chance to dress in stiff office wear. The one time I had an opportunity to do so, my office (which was situated in bustling Makati btw) wasn't too strict and formal with the dress code. To get a vivid image of what I am trying to convey here's an example of what I wore there. Now though, I'm much more game and open to dressing like this even though I'm not a celebrity, a rich man's wife, heiress, an entrepreneur, heck not even as a CEO of an imaginary company! I can pretend to be any of those in my head though, right? My elder sister and cousin both remarked how classy I looked in this outfit and how it reminded them of Kim Kardashian. At least I looked like one of the things I mentioned above and passed as a celebrity in this outfit. Do you see it too? Haha!

English Rose

I rarely wear jeans and t-shirts anymore. Last time I consistently did was in 3rd year high school when my usual get-up was comprised of a cool graphic shirt, good fitting denim and a pair of Chucks finished with long chained necklaces. When I do wear this no-fail combo now though, it's usually spruced up with not so ordinary accents like this flowery pumps, bowler hat, gold accessories and classy bag. Here's a similar outfit taken 2 years ago. And for some reason, outfits like these make me feel sexier and more womanly. I guess sometimes less is really more. But being someone who likes to dabble in various styles, I'd say it's better to mix it up sometimes and not be one note . :)

Code Red

Having worn this outfit reminded me of a phase in fashion that I had back then in 2009-2010 wherein I was very much into monochromatic and B&W looks. I'd don an all-black ensemble and inject a jolt of color, which in my case was always red. My 3rd year prom gown which I posted here during my earlier days of blogging was black and white houndstooth, an unlikely choice if I may say so myself, and complemented it with red lips and hair accessory. I guess this "formula" has always been a part of my "style equation".

Something about this outfit screams preppy-lass-in-the-streets-of-london to me. Think...Alexa Chung. Must be the argyle-like tights, the vintage satchel, beige culottes, and these red floral oxfords. My fave element in this look would have to be my red shoes though. First, I got it real cheap for 197.50 php at Manels during their Anniversary sale where everything is 50% off (btw, the sale is still ongoing and will end on Tuesday so you better make a visit now!). Second, it has replaced my long gone fave red pair (and I can't quite believe that it took me this long to find a new one when clearly, red is my fave color). Third, they're a much modern-looking oxfords that come in a non-traditional color like black, brown, or cream. And lastly, the shiny finish reminds me of Dorothy of Oz's iconic red shoes. Sulit kung sulit! Haha!

Toughen Up

(knit cascading vest-thrifted | tank-The Landmark | DIY ripped jeans-Jag | shoes-Parisia Jr.)

Oh I just missed wearing an all-black ensemble! Isn't fashion so much fun? You can go from being a girly-girl in a frock to a rocker chick in ripped jeans! I like different styles and I don't want to just stick to one look only. Then again, I adore those people who have a certain look and have found their own "style". Oh what the hell. Let's all just have fun with fashion. :)

I wore this when I went to the mall with my niece and my 'Lil sister for their voice lessons in Center For Pop Music Phil sometime last week. It was the first time I accompanied them and it brought back a lot of good memories from when I was a trainee then as well. Ahh...I hate the feeling I get when nostalgia washes over me and leaves me feeling sad.

PS. I ripped these jeans myself and I love it!

PPS. Please excuse the disheveled hair. I tied it in a ponytail and when I let it loose I couldn't do anything to straighten it for this shoot. But you gotta admit, it added a 'lil something extra to the overall look (or so I think it did haha).

Much Love,

Just an Update

Taking a break from all the girliness (as seen on my previous posts). I went home with a lot of black things from my recent trip to the mall. Bought the cropped top and the studded cardi at K2 (Trinoma) for 999php and the the studded harems from Landmark for only 299php and the Parisian shoes for 999php. Not bad eh? Not really fashion-related but I wanna share what I've been up to at school lately. I mentioned before that the two subjects I'm enjoying this term are my video and radio production classes. Here's what we do in RADIPRO. :)
My director/producer Dea and the mixer Kat while I was the talent. Haha! I tried emulating Nicole-hiyala of Love Radio since our target audience were classes C & D so I shouldn't be too sosyal-sosyal or else we won't be able to relate with them. Keribels naman. My prof approved and told me that I was a kumare daw to the listeners. :))
And look at what made me sooo kilig! I was featured on Tongue in Chic! Thanks to Channie for informing me about this! I was totally clueless. :))

Anddd...lastly, I wanna thank y'all so much my lovely readers for commenting on my posts and for supporting my blog! You guys motivate me to do better with my posts and make me feel appreciated. Look, I finally reached my 100th follower mark! *tears* I know it's not much for those who are already past this, but seeing this made me realize that there are 100+ people following me and reading what I'm writing here on the blog and that they actually care to listen (well in this case: read)! Haha!
Sooo, thank you all so much. I am extremely grateful. :)

'Til the next post!

Back to Black and Faceless Ego No More

Back with an outfit post, yey! Sorry for being MIA, I'd just gotten over my uninspired mode. :)
Here’s yesterday’s school outfit. God, I missed wearing monochromatic outfits!
(wearing: Mags Blazer, The Landmark skirt, tights, custom-made brogues, gifted black bag, Abbey's dripping chain necklace)
After being stuck in a style rut and for being uninspired for the longest time ever since this term started, I'm glad to say that I've finally found something that inspires me! Yes, I am like an ancient poet/painter who is very dependent on a muse and turns to her for inspiration. Haha! But before you make the inference that I am in love or what, let me tell you now that NO, I'm not and that my source of inspiration is not a person. And you might find me weird when I tell you guys that what inspires me--to dress up and go to school--is the topic on existentialism that we've discussed in my Philo class. I feel like I'm turning philosophical about life now. Haha!

So, how'd it all start? Well, it was in Philo class and we moved on to the topic of Existentialism. I had always wondered about it and had already looked up its definition on Wikipedia out of sheer curiosity and boredom one random and unproductive day but I guess I never really understood it until it was discussed in class last week. But before I blab on about it and bore you to death, I'll just cut it short and sum it all up for you. Basically, an existentialist exists in this world without being a conformist. Existentialism is about existing but not like a lifeless and inanimate object that is there but "not really there" because it doesn't have "presence". An existentialist is not just a face among the crowd but someone who stands out and goes against the grain. So there, the lesson about it struck me in the most positive of ways.

The dilemma was I was feeling uninspired to dress-up (and other things) and so I couldn't feel the thrill of it 'coz I was holding back in creating outfits. I didn't want to be stared at 'coz of what I was wearing so consequently, I dressed like an ordinary person in school and blended into the crowd. I was a "faceless ego", just like what Miss said. And so I started thinking and took the topic on existentialism to heart and that got me inspired again. As Aquamarine said, "why go through life unnoticed?". Couldn't agree more. I know, I'm weird. Haha!

These were taken yesterday after class at Anna's condo. Decided to take their photos as well for...I dunno, nothing in particular really. Just a 'lil photo shoot to pass the time, I guess?

Love Abbey's cropped floral cardi! :)
Anna called this the "This is SPARTAAA" look. Haha!
Mae loves her "animal" prints. :)
Cuteee floral dress! :)
Photos of me in Taft Avenue while waiting for the FX to arrive. Oh dear me, shameless picture-taking on the streets. Haha!
Look at me fiddling with the skin on my fingers while waiting. I am such a fidgety fidget-er who fidgets a lot! *fidget* *fidget*
Why is it that some people in school give me “the stare” whenever I wear these tights or any other tights for that matter? Just because we live in a tropical country doesn’t mean I can’t wear one, right? Ahh, screw them. :))

'Til the next post!
