Golden Light

Operation "turn-the-photos-look-warm" successful! I took these quite early actually but they look like I took them during the magic hour (sunset) instead! Took advantage of the beautiful morning light streaming from the window then setting my white balance to shade or cloudy and voila! Instant sunset-y photos! This was my outfit btw when my friends and I went to the first ever Indie Fridays by Bloggers United at Il Ponticello in Makati. This look came together last minute and I couldn't be more grateful to these shorts for saving me from turning my closet inside out again in an attempt to find something decent to wear! Haha! I couldn't be bothered to plan my outfit ahead of time/the night before so when these cute lace-y shorts came in the mail that day I knew that I was gonna build my outfit around it. Don't you just love it when an outfit comes together unplanned and unintentionally? It's either you love what you come up with or have a what-was-i-thinking-moment. Exciting, yeah? Haha!

Somewhere in My Youth or Childhood I Must Have Done Something Good

Photos from the night we watched The Sound of Music (December 30, 2011) at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in Resorts World. It was basically a family night out for us and boy did we all have a great time! My elder sister and I were excited as hell about watching the play 'coz we adore EVERYTHING---the cast, the songs and the story of course!---about the film that we practically drove our mom insane by bugging her into buying tickets ever since the opening night. Haha! It was such a lovely night though I felt a 'lil uncomfortable 'coz I was holding my breath the entire time as I anticipate for the all too familiar scenes. Well, it was all that I could do to keep me from bursting into singing along with the actors. Haha! It truly was a visual feast and a nice merge of classic story with modern technology. The set design was surreal! You could tell that they really wanted the audience to be awed and be brought into the setting of the story. My only negative comment about the play was the lackluster performance of  some of the main characters. I mean, my favorite characters were the butler, uncle Max and the housekeeper, Frau Shmidt! So I think that's not such a good sign. We ended the night by having a very late dinner at Cafe Republiq where we exchanged reviews about the play.

As for my outfit, I just wore something simple and fuss-free. Basic, solid colors and not too many accessories. Then combined different textures by wearing a wooly pullover and a leather skirt. That's it pancit! :)

PS. Title of this post comes from a song in the play, Something Good. One of my faves! Captain Von Trapp and Maria sang this after finally admitting to each other that they've fallen in love. *Sighs*

Toughen Up

(knit cascading vest-thrifted | tank-The Landmark | DIY ripped jeans-Jag | shoes-Parisia Jr.)

Oh I just missed wearing an all-black ensemble! Isn't fashion so much fun? You can go from being a girly-girl in a frock to a rocker chick in ripped jeans! I like different styles and I don't want to just stick to one look only. Then again, I adore those people who have a certain look and have found their own "style". Oh what the hell. Let's all just have fun with fashion. :)

I wore this when I went to the mall with my niece and my 'Lil sister for their voice lessons in Center For Pop Music Phil sometime last week. It was the first time I accompanied them and it brought back a lot of good memories from when I was a trainee then as well. Ahh...I hate the feeling I get when nostalgia washes over me and leaves me feeling sad.

PS. I ripped these jeans myself and I love it!

PPS. Please excuse the disheveled hair. I tied it in a ponytail and when I let it loose I couldn't do anything to straighten it for this shoot. But you gotta admit, it added a 'lil something extra to the overall look (or so I think it did haha).

Much Love,
Scarlet April xx
