The Governess and The Charge

Happy Halloween y'all! Here are the photos from our self-conducted mini photo shoot! These were shot a day before we left Manila with the help of my tripod and remote---so pardon me if you see me clutching it in my hands on these photos. Last year, I dressed up as Japanese cellist/singer Kanon Wakeshima in Gothic Lolita fashion which you can view here, with my good friend En. My peg this year is the evil version of a governess. I was taking a shower that fateful afternoon when the idea sprang to my mind. Haha! Think Maria of Sound of Music, Jane Eyre, Miss Minchin (though she's already evil) all combined together to form one hell of a governess. Haha! I'm just so fascinated with the idea of being a governess at the moment since I just recently watched The Sound of Music (the film) and Jane Eyre. My sister, Natasha, is my charge here. Together, we form The Governess and The Charge From The Dead, Miss Jones (from my name Jonessa haha) and Tasha. *evil laugh*

I'll keep this post short as I'm currently in Bicol and I'm supposed to prepare the Banoffee Pie for tomorrow's celebration right about...now. So...ciao bellas! Hope you like it! :)

 XO.

The Uncanny Valley

Here are the rest of the photos that I took for my photography portfolio!

The Concept/inspiration:

Inspired by Masahiro Mori's theory named the Uncanny Valley, the theory/hypothesis states that "when robots and other facsimiles of humans look and act almost like actual humans, it causes a response of revulsion among human observers".

I first got inspired by this after watching an episode of Criminal Minds 5 which is now my fave episode of the series to date. I was so creeped out after watching the episode that it got me so interested in the theory of Mori as well!
(Creepy right? There was no blood or gruesome-ness involved in the episode but it most definitely sent chills down my spine when me and my sis watched it)

As much as I'd like to name it "Living Doll" or "Life-size Barbie", thought I'd go for a fancier and more intellectual-sounding name hence the title "The Uncanny Valley". Plus, this also serves as a tribute to my fave episode of CM5. :)

Hope you guys liked it! Outfit post coming up on the blog real soon!

Much Love,

'Coz Halloween's The Perfect Time To Play Dress-ups

Hello guys! Before I start off this post, let me just greet y'all a Happy Halloween first! There. I'm actually feeling better now and today I have something really special to share with you all! Yesterday, I spent majority of my afternoon at En's place conducting a Halloween (mini) photo shoot. While I was practically achoo-ing almost every minute when I was sick with the flu and was fairly miserable, I was concocting a 'lil something-something for the blog. When I finally got better, I immediately called for this shoot!

On to my costume then!
I dressed up in the gothic lolita fashion of Kanon Wakeshima, a Japanese singer/cellist. I adore her so much because she's very talented (she sings, plays the cello, and draws pretty well!) and she has this sweet and spooky look going on for her all at the same time!So whatcha guys think? Since I didn't have any gothic lolita costumes on hand, I improvised by wearing my 4th year HS prom gown and tucked all the excess fabric inside my hot pants! HAHA! Then I just wore my white blouse underneath and pinned my black ribbon on the collar. :)
And because I don't play the cello, I figured I'd just use my violin instead. Here's my violin Scarlet making a cameo here on the blog! :)
En dressed up as Wednesday of Addam's Family. She looks creepy right? Haha!
And this is where they mistook me for the Mad Hatter. Probably 'coz of the tea party set-up and the red hat. :)
Here's En wearing my 'Lil sis' cute pink tutu skirt and playing the part of...Hmm, I dunno, Dita von Teese? :)
Well that was certainly fun! It feels so good to see the ideas that you have materialize right in front of you through the photos that you see. God, I love Fashion and dressing up. Haha! Hope you liked the photos and the looks that we came up with!

So who/what are you guys going to be for Halloween? :)

'Til the next post!

Friday Shoot!

Hi guys! Before anything else, I wanna tell you that this post will be a bit picture-heavy. But whatever. My posts have always been picture-heavy. Haha! I dunno, I guess I just like documenting whatever it is that goes on in my life (like what we do in school and stuff like that) no matter how mundane life can get sometimes.

Okaaay, moving on...

Just wanna share to y'all the photos during the photoshoot that we had last last Friday. A friend of mine who's studying at the Ateneo asked me and my college friends to model for them for their Comm. Theory project (a magazine) and being a comm. student myself, I somehow empathized with them and agreed to help 'em. Besides, I was giddy for a photoshoot as well! Haha! She asked our friends who're studying at UST and UP to model for them too, each group representing their respective universities.

Now here's how it all went in photos (BTS shots first from my cam!):
Melissa arriving at Anna's condo with a suitcase full of clothes for the shoot! We were teasing her that morning (speaking ironically here) that she wasn't exactly "prepared" for the shoot. (in Filipino: "Hindi ka naman masyadong ready nyan Meli. Haha!)
Before this photoshoot, Anna had been complaining to me that she looked exactly the same in all of her cameos here on my blog meaning, she was wearing the exact same clothes in my photos! Haha! Because of that, I styled her for her 3rd cameo on the blog hence this cute casual outfit! She was hesitant to wear the fedora and was doubting if the skirt went well with her top at first but as you can see, I managed to get her to wear them! HAHA!
Let the shoot-ing begin! (That didn't sound right. Haha!)
And here are the photos from our photogs! :)
Here we are donning our "yabang" shirts (as Raiza called it) and spelling out D-L-S-U with our arms. FAIL.
One more time. Woohoo! ANIMO La Salle Beybeh! Haha! :D
My my, that was such a fun-filled day and I'm looking forward to more photoshoots with them! I'm really glad to have helped Raiza and her team. She and Angela (our photogs) were so easy to get along with! And of course, I can't end this post without thanking my friends Anna, Abbey and Meli for agreeing to model with me and for always being up for anything! Thanks to Meli for making the effort to bring a suitcase full of clothes and to Abbey and Anna for always accommodating me into your home in Taft. I love you guys! :")

Much Love,
Scarlet April xx
