The Uncanny Valley

Here are the rest of the photos that I took for my photography portfolio!

The Concept/inspiration:

Inspired by Masahiro Mori's theory named the Uncanny Valley, the theory/hypothesis states that "when robots and other facsimiles of humans look and act almost like actual humans, it causes a response of revulsion among human observers".

I first got inspired by this after watching an episode of Criminal Minds 5 which is now my fave episode of the series to date. I was so creeped out after watching the episode that it got me so interested in the theory of Mori as well!
(Creepy right? There was no blood or gruesome-ness involved in the episode but it most definitely sent chills down my spine when me and my sis watched it)

As much as I'd like to name it "Living Doll" or "Life-size Barbie", thought I'd go for a fancier and more intellectual-sounding name hence the title "The Uncanny Valley". Plus, this also serves as a tribute to my fave episode of CM5. :)

Hope you guys liked it! Outfit post coming up on the blog real soon!

Much Love,

Save Some Trees. Have a Blog.

Heya guys! Sorry for the lack of blog updates. It's 'coz I had nothing interesting to post and nothing exciting happened to me in the past days. Yesterday was fun and blog-worthy though; me and my friends modeled and had a shoot for a friend's project in school so watch out for that.

In the meantime, here's an outfit post inspired by SVW. I watched the first season of Gossip Girl again and I was so inspired by Serena's "comeback" outfit hence this day's outfit post. Oh and I quoted Dan for the title of this post in an episode in GG season1 as well. :)

Here's the inspiration for this outfit:
...and here's my take on SVW's outfit:
wearing: 11th of October denim blouse, Tomato breton shirt, Black Sheep gray jeans, gifted black leather bag, Mom's scarf, black brogues ordered from Aisa. :)
Since it was too hot for a camel leather jacket, I opted to wear my denim blouse over my breton-striped shirt instead. Serena was wearing a denim vest underneath that jacket anyway. :P

On an unrelated note, it's so hard to grow bangs out! They're at their awkward stage right now where they don't count as bangs anymore 'coz they're longer than the usual but they're still short to be considered as "not bangs". Hope I made sense there. Haha!

'Til the next post!

Playing Stylista

Phooey. Finally back to blogging but alas, I don't bring you an outfit post. I've been "Looklet-ing" for two days straight now because I've been too lazy to take outfit shots of myself and I really want to go shopping but I'm broke at the moment so this is the next best thing to shopping. Well not really. Haha!

How I wish I was wearing these:

I'm 18 already but I can't seem to outgrow playing paperdolls, (I have an almost similar post about playing paper dolls and if you're interested in reading it, CLICK HERE) well in this case online dress-up games. Haha! I dunno, ever since I was a child, I've always had a great fascination for paper dolls mostly because of the clothes. I guess seeing the pretty "paper clothes" was one of the many things which influenced my dream of becoming a fashion designer someday.

Here are some of my past styling creations in my Looklet account. :) Oh bummer, school already ended my very short term break.

Outfit post'll be up on the blog tomorrow! :)

Much Love,

ScarletApril
