Christmas Outfit

Merry Christmas everyone! Just got home from the mall with the family and this was my outfit earlier. My mom was so busy with the kitchen renovation in our home that she wasn't able to shop for gifts so she took us malling a few hours ago to pick our own gifts. Can't wait to show you guys what I got. I hope you're all having a splendid time with your loved ones!

Daytime Sparkle

Ah, I couldn't wait for December breeze to come by anymore so I wore my first holiday inspired outfit for this year to a date to the movies instead! What, you guys can't blame me! *laughs* Anyway, I was trying to channel a Serena van der Woodsen vibe with this outfit. What do you guys think? :)

Going Korean

Been a while since partners in crime Hungry Boy and Parched Girl went on a food expedition! This time, they went for authentic Korean meal at E'Ommason Kimchi in the Korean-packed strip along Don Antonio. If there's one thing to note about their food excursions is that they like to eat at places that don't get much attention but definitely deserve all the right praises. HB and PG sure like to mix things up as well by alternating from fancy and posh restos to quaint hole-in-the-walls from time to time. The perfect balance, I must say.

On this day, Parched Girl got her first legit pay and to celebrate, Hungry Boy treated her (as he always does) to some awesome Korean food. One thing they also like about eating Korean is that you get a lot of complimentary side dishes to cleanse and neutralize the palate. I'm still thinking about the sweet and savory flavor of those baby potatoes! Talk about getting more than what you pay for. Of course, it's classic HB & PG move to order some "drinks" so they tried out the restaurant's Soju, much to the delight of Parched Girl. Haha! And for dessert, she tried the famous fish ice cream sandwich and the ice candy thing (tastes like bubblegum---yum!). Both of them were thoroughly pleased and swore to try more Korean dishes next time!

Pico de Loro Photodiary

We welcomed December by escaping the urban jungle that is Manila and had a very brief staycation at Pico de Loro where we celebrated my little sister's 10th birthday. These are just some of the photos that I took during our one-night and two-day stay at said place. Everything was so picturesque and neat. The birthday girl truly enjoyed herself.

Neon Dots

Just a few more days 'til Christmas and I still can't wear the sweaters that I hoarded because it's still so warm here in Manila. I mean, just look at my first post for December. It's the total opposite of warm pullovers, mugs of hot cocoa and wool socks. A summer type of post is what I have here instead. We welcomed the 1st of December by going to Pico de Loro for my little sister's birthday. It felt so much like summer, as seen on these photos. I am in no way a beach babe. I am the first one to hide under the cool shade of a beach umbrella. I am the least excited when my family plans for a beach trip. I can't swim to save my life. And I don't like wearing swimsuits. But if there's a thing or two that I like about it, it's the change of scenery and the relaxed vibe at the beach.

Now, about the outfit. As I mentioned earlier, I don't like wearing swimsuits. First, because I'm quite shy to bear more skin than the usual (conservative ang peg!). Second, I feel naked (HAHAHA). And lastly, I just think it's too revealing and intimate (like lingerie) to be worn outside. But that's just me. Do forgive me for my weirdness my dear readers. So for beach trips, I tend to wear maillots/one piece, swimsuit dresses, or bikini tops with high waist bottoms. Anything bra and knicker type, I scurry away from. Hahaha!

I have a hunch that Baroque is going to be the next print du jour on clothing. It can be easily mistaken for scarf prints but when you look at it closely, baroque prints seem to evoke an exuberance, grandeur, and a more romantic vibe with its gilded, swirly florals. Again, I was playing out a fantasy when I wore this look out. I was pretending to be a cross between a lofty patroness of art and a Roman argonaut ready to go to battle. The only battle that I took on though was walking in these shoes despite the blisters that I acquired. Haha!

NYPD Blue. Err. Not exactly. I'm not about to go on a covert operation as part of the New York Police --- though I do like to think I might do some good work being part of the fashion police ---Haha! Anyway, an Empire State of Mind was what I had in mind when I put together this look to accompany my boyfriend to the 2nd Anniversary Party of Borough, one of our favorite restaurant/bars in the Metro that, yup, as the name implies, is a tribute to everything New York! Borough prides itself in serving New York comfort food, 24/7. Among my favorites are their grilled cheese sandwich with tomato soup and chicken & waffles. But enough about the food, this isn't a food blog after all. Haha!

To party Borough-style on this momentous occasion, I put on a simple bodycon dress in thick black and blue stripes. I've never been to New York I must say. But every time I think of it I think of the towering buildings that cast a shadow on the city's streets set against the blue of the New York skyline. Black and blue would thus be the colors that (at least for me) embody the quintessential Empire State of Mind. What I like about this dress is that it's sleek and straightforward, yet not too simple as it gives me a sense of command and confidence. Also, I like wearing stripes as it creates an optical illusion. Stripes on a bodycon dress makes it appear that there are more curves than what I actually have. Haha! What I also like about this dress is that it's versatile in that it can be used as a sweater replacement. Its 3/4 sleeves also prove that not all night out dresses need to be about revealing skin. This one works just as well even though I'm somewhat covered up!

To finish off this look and throw in a dash of more girly colors, I wore my bright orange suede pumps. My dress made use of manly colors so I thought of throwing these pumps into the mix that made the look truly my own. And to my boyfriend's approval, he saw the combination of black, blue, and orange as very New York --- the New York Knicks for that matter, his favorite NBA team. Guess I worked it all out in this one!
